The Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General oversees the Commissioner for Oaths program in the province of Alberta. This program provides a means by which members of the public, such as CNA Financial team members, who wish to be appointed, can become a Commissioner for Oaths in Alberta.
The Government of Alberta proclaimed the Notaries and Commissioners Act and put the Commissioner for Oaths Regulation in force on April 30, 2015 with the most recent update to the regulation being made as of December 9, 2016. A Code of Conduct was also established.
A Commissioner for Oaths must be 18 years of age, a resident of Alberta, and have no criminal record.
